This is a picture of my cousins. They reside in a small village called Bukit Rambai in Malacca, West Malaysia. The girl in the tudung (or headpiece)is suffering from a brain tumour. A cheerful girl, she has been reduced to sombre state and constant pain. I took this shot while we were waiting for the bus to the city. After which, I edit the picture to give a retro feel.
I am not sure whether people in some countries do not smile when they pose for pictures. But I will definitedly pay more attention to that in future!An interesting observation! Any thoughts why people from some countries do not smile at cameras? This just reminded me of those pictures of the past where people would pose in sombre faces.
Beautiful picture, but a sad story, your cousins are very beautiful girls, I like your composition and choice of sepia color. their serious look, to me, is something I see in many cultures. People do not like to smile at a camera in many countries. do you think this is true in Malaysia? Alison
