About Another hot spring in what is becoming a series of hot springs and pools at Yellowstone National Park.

As with some of my photographs, individual areas have been masked and the levels adjusted. I also pushed the saturation +13 to bring the digital image to a more "film" like feel.

This is not a great photo, but makes for a good study example of near/far detail using a wide angle lens for nature and landscape photography.

Yes, I intentionally did not use the rules of thirds left-right.

Hi Michael, Compared to your previous shot of the geothermical spring, this one outclasses the other by far. Mainly because of the background, which has more to offer than the previous one. Also, I think the portrait format works well. It creates a very good feel of distance and depth. Awesome tones, and a great shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

I have to chuckle because I intentionally darkened the background and foreground in PS. Maybe I shouldn't mess with my images so much...

I like it very much. I, too, have tried using the wide-angle to get from the extreme foreground to the extreme background (see my image of a few minutes ago). The exposure troubles me a little bit. The foreground is underexposed by a stop and the background by more than that. PS could fix it, I think. But overall I really like it.
