Rebecca, for the most part I don't think life is so bad there; people enjoy the good parts and bear the burdens that have to be borne (both literally and figuratively) as best they can, like anywhere. The bad part comes when something goes wrong--a child gets a serious illness, a working parent gets disabled, whatever. There is not much safety net in a society where there is so little money.
Excellent composition, with the one on the right leading in, in the forefront. The tones, contrast and lighting are wonderful. I look at your images and say a silent prayer, that life is so much better here. It's a reality check. I find that after looking at your images, I complain much less about things in my life. ANd this is a good thing. :)
