Testing the manual focus lens on the Pentax *ist D body. I played with this very co-operative Blue Heron, until I lost the light. This was my final shot that session, I had to boost the ISO to get the image, but When I saw the "magic light" rim-lighting the bird I felt the noise would still be worth it.
I like the rim light, but I like the fact that even in the tricky light you maintained detail in the feathers, but more important his(her?) eye. The noise reminds me of film grain, which doesn't really bother me at all. Nature isn't always out in sunny f:16.
