Hi Margaret - thanks for your kind comment!

Well, it was a photograph with the rims of some of the the glasses in sharp focus, therefore a "rim shot".

But in American comedic vocabulary, a "rimshot" is ... to explain with an exerpt from OpenWiki:

" The double hitting of a snare drum followed by a cymbal, sometimes referred to by the onomatopoeia "da da chhh." This is an old technique used by comedians to add punch or
signify the end of the punch line for their joke."

OpenWiki goes on to give an example:

"
Bjorn: hey matt, have you heard the joke about the Roof
Matt: no i have not
Bjorn: that's just as well
Bjorn: it's probably Over Your Head
Bjorn: ;-)
Matt: ba dum bum chh
"

Best regards,
SteveR

As a non-native, don't understand the inside joke, but I like the image, great composition, wonderful colours the sharp foreground gradully getting softer really works

A advertising quality shot, nevertheless :-)The choice of subject is still on point.

Hi Simba,

Thank you for you comment. I like it this way, but you have a very good point - it's always good to try it with both more and less DOF, perhaps even shifting the point of focus - all in the quest for a better, or at least different, image.

In this case, I was constrained by the available lighting. With this photo, I had to use a wide aperture with limited DOF in order to be able to shoot at a reasonable shutter speed. A tripod would have helped here, but I don't think the department store would allow that :-)

Thanks again, and best regards,
SteveR

Don't you think it would have been more powerful with a deeper DOF ?
