About Seperation can be beautiful. It did not belong. There were undoubtedly souls here, from time to time, that did not belong.

Brad, this is one of the best shots in the series. I like macros, did you photoshop the blur? In any event, it?s a powerful photograph. I love the crop and composure! It?s almost like anthropology documenting the change of colors over the years of this institution. Once again though brad, this is dangerous photography, there?s lots of toxins in that air. Stiff? rotting wood and lead paint? the musty smell that only comes from years of neglect on a old building.

Ursula, I share your grief for those who's lives followed a path to this....place. I will say however, that after spending many hours here, by myself....my fear slowly retreated, and was eventually replaced with feelings of sorrow, sympathy, and understanding....and a strange contentment.

great image,Brad :-)
photographically speaking,if you isolated the bottomright part of this picture and shot it accordingly then it would make a magnificent abstract!
as for the 'belonging' issue,i think it shouldn't be left to the asylums to decide.
bye
K.

Fascinating series Bradley. I too have been Intrigued by closed mental institutions. Perhaps it's because the images mimic the forgotten and pathetic souls that once inhabited the place. Beautiful job.

Confusion, thoughts obscured, a thin line drawn, minds clear yet unsure.
