I enjoyed this shot very much. I worked so hard trying to get good shots of the elk at RMNP and did not come away with anything as good as this. We spent 2 weeks at Estes Park in Aug. and have already started planning another trip. Great shot Dee

Michael do you live in the area, I live in Greeley about 80 minutes from Estes. If you do live in the area I would enjoy meeting you sometime. The park has so much to offer if you spend the time. Unlimited !

Hi Lee:
Thank you very much for your kind comment. I have been to RMNP more times than I can count, hoping for an opportunity to come away with some good images. On this day, I truly lucked out (right place, right time).

Hi Kim:
Thank you very much for your kind comments. It is always chilly at that elevation (11,000 feet or so, just above timberline), even in July. The clouds made it even more so, but the shot was taken using the hood of my car for support, so I wasn't far from warmth.

The detail in the horns is absolutely amazing... I can see indivual pieces of hair! Nice job getting both elk in the frame and composing it so they compliment each other. Looks like a cool morning though!

Mike: Fabulous image! The velvet should be sloughing off soon.
We are hoping to see you and your lovely wife around the end of October on the way south.
