Sunset and all those dark specs in the twilight sky are the kites being flown, including our own. Taken on Sankranthi, a Hindu festival that celebrates the harvest season and the end of monsoons. On this holy day, the sun enters zodiac house of Capricorn symbolizing the journey from darkness into light. On a lighter note, in Hyderabad, a special feature during the months of December-January, for the old and young alike, is kite-flying as a sport, to cut the others' kites in-flight, by aerodynamic and skillful maneuvering, and use of special thread coated with finely powdered glass. Kite-flying comes to an end on this day with a gala all-day competitions from playgrounds and multi-storeyed building terraces. The fun part of it all is, nobody but you keeps the score to brag about it.
