Thanks again, Anna! The DOF seems all-important with these macros. Sometimes it just clicks.

very neat, nice lighting, and I like the DOF.. round flowers as difficult IMO concerning DOF.. well done though, it makes me want to reach out and touch it..

Hi Tim, i just caught by accident your comment to me, usually i receive an email but this time i was just browsing the comments and found yours to me. Thanks a million, sometimes i get a bit disappointed because a particular photo doesn't come across well when i thought it would. But it is comments like these that really mean a lot to me... to know that someone out there appreciates what i tried to do. And you hit the nail on the head with your description of what a photo means to me. It is not just a document but an expression of ones self. This is what i try to show (not all the time) with my "arty" images. Nature is wonderful and all we need to do is open our eyes. This photo of yours epitimises (hope i wrote that correctly) the philosophy of mine. To some it is just a flower, to some it is just a B&W flower but to me it is a living object that you have captured in an artistic way that makes it really attractive whilst still retaining some of it's secrecy. It is really good! So once again, dear friend, thanks you have made my weekend! I wish you all the best from Switzerland and i'll be looking out for more work from you. Take care Neil

The focus and the DOF is perfect; only the tips of the petals are really sharp. The grain is nice too. Regards, Gaja

Hi Tim, by chance came across your portfolio, a lot of great pictures you share. I like this one because of its dramatic lighting, which renders the flower in a nearly physical presence very nicely contrasted by the velvety burned out space in the back petals. Wonderful also the play among sharp and soft, black and white areas. Such a (superficially simple motif, where just with the use and control of light you create such depth and complexity. Congrats, great job, will put it in my favourites. best regards Jorg

Tim - This is one of my favorites of yours. Love the comp and DOF. Reminds me a bit of Maplethorpe.

I love the shallow DOF on the petals, it makes it look so dainty. This is where less is more, very subtle. Only wish it was bigger. Thanks for sharing.
