Thanks so much, Evelyn. So many of these techniques are simple once you know the steps! I appreciate your taking the time to educate me.

Tim, the technique is very simple, at least in my editing program and would probably work with most of them. I copy the original picture and enlarge it to the size I want the frame. Then I use the blur feature and blur it to the point I like. Stack the original on top and move around until it's in just the right spot, adjusting the size of the blurred pic as necessary. Then it's just a matter of drawing a line around the original, choosing an appropriate width and coloring it to coordinate with the pic. Super easy and looks pretty cool with a lot of pics. I've used the same technique with several of the pics in my portfolio.

Thanks for the suggestion, Evelyn. As Mark said "a land that goes beyond the horizon". Your frame suits the moody image, and pulls it beyond the frame. That said, I'd love to learn your technique!

Hi, Tim. I had to look at your whole portfolio after trading comments on other pics. I really like it. You have a good variety of different types of shots and I found a lot of them quite interesting to look at closer. After all the comments on framing for this shot, what do you think of this idea?

I get this feeling of vastness; a land that goes beyond the horizon, room to breathe and to be free. The frame is okay with me. Perhaps a lighter gray rather than the black that Ivan suggested.

Lovely gentle moody image. I really like the undulating lines of the landscape. I do agree with Ivan about the frame. I would like to see no frame at all. This flowing lines don't benefit from being hemmed in. Good composition and tones.

i think it's really interesting because in the thumbnail image it looked like 2 eyes in the mountains which made me curious! cool intention or great coincidence!

leaving the frame-question aside
it transmits the mood in a very perfect way

A good point, Ivan, perhaps I will repost...

Picture is ok, but I think the frame is in a wrong color, and spoils the picture somehow. I think that a black frame would have been good.
