I don't know about moonshine, but homebrewed ales make the crap you buy in a store seem downright unappealing, in my experience~

Well, about moon shine, I learned about 15 yrs. ago how to make moon shine the way it has been made in this area of the neck of the woods. It could be made with barley, wheat or ground corn, use alot alot of sugar and yeast. Ferment for 7 to 10 days, cooked in only copper metal pot after so long (I forget) it is run through copper tubing into another pot for filtering and then into glass jugs. (The old man, reminded me of George Burns:) His grandaughter got mad at him for not giving her any money turned him in, got busted, and his steel got taken away from him after 40 yrs. of use and since at this time has passed away. He didn't drink it himself but made good money at it. He would buy wine jugs .50 for gallons and .25 for 1/2 gal. He was quite the character. And yes the stuff smelled like kerosine to me. I heard it was legal to have 5 gal. on personl home front, but not to leave for sale. So, anyway, don't drink much myself, an occasional drink such as tequila sunrise or oj and vodka. Only occsionally.

I suppose I'm going to have to step in here... GuiNNess! Two N's! Lord, what would uncle Frank think? I'm starting to see Poitin a touch more frequently in the U.S. now; in the land of Bud Light and Rolling Rock I'm a little surprised. That stuff'll put hair on your chest, probably your back as well. If it doesn't kill the average American, it'll probably make them wish it had... It's like watching people take a swig of gasoline!

Have to respond to the emerging debate about guiness and other drinks, as the slogan used to say "Guiness is good for you.." the other Irish product potcheen(made from fermented potato skins) is most definately not.Must have more than a passing resemblance to moonshine kev
