About
Swimming at the public beach on the river near present-day Victoria Park, in 1912. Before the Riversdale Pool was built in Saskatoon a cordoned off area of the river was used for public bathing. Naturally this is NOT my photograph - it is part of a collection of historical photos from the Local History Room, Saskatoon Public Library, that I am working with at the moment and since I haven't uploaded anything recently, and it IS summer (not that you'd notice it by the weather hereabouts lately) I thought this might be a nice one. Helen Schrader is the photographer. The middle two boys are her sons, Ted and Fred.
Love it, you can almost see a story in the kids.. They seem like the best of friends. Even though the child on the far right of the photos is the smallest, i think he really pulls the group and the photo together, maybe because you can see more of his face. Great!
