About This shot was made in Nuremberg at the Colosseum, a site during the Nazi Reich. The building was actually never completed but should be what the Colosseum in Rome was in the past. Nowadays the building is partially deserted - and allows some interesting geometry subjects.

the overexposure you see is not from extensive PS usage. The light was very aggressive this day so that the columns that were directly lighted really seem to be white. Therefore the gentlemen in the picture enjoys the dark side of life =)

Dear Hugp, thanks for the helpful technical analysis. As for sepia/b/w: Tried that but wasn't satisfied with the colors.

I'm not sure if I can do better than this though ;-) Hope to get fresh stuff the next days after finishing my new appartment. cheers, thilo

Dear Calle,

you are right, I am not satisfied with the darker areas as well. As for the new camera: I'm browsing a lot to do research but I cannot make a decision at the moment ;-) Hard to decide.

cheers, thilo

I'm very impressed! Again you made such interesting photo so perfectly composed and with so much feeling! Strong light, yes... but I love it! Love the strong contrast and how beautiful the light is inside! Great to have the man in the photo too!

Hi Thilo, I like the geometric patterns, and definately like the man taking a rest in the shade. It does liven up the image, and keeps the viewers attention focuesed within the shot. Difficult lighting, but wll exposed. I find the over exposed bean not distracting. Maybe a B&W conversion / sepia tone would've increased the atmosphere a bit. Other than that, a fine shot, but I think you can do better than this.

Cheers,

Hugo

Very nice, bro. I guess we need to go on a safari when I'm next time in Nuernberg.
Very nice image; I think this would work in B&W, too.
I'm wondering if the subject didn't have more details, especially texture. I don't mean the bright areas.
We might should talk about a camera upgrade...
Cheer! Carlheinz

Hi Uwe,

Dear Gayle,

thought long about the cropping (left/right, the bottom ..). I ended up doing nothing, that's probably the best decision if there are too many options ;-) A crop on the bottom would make sense though.

Cheers, Thilo

Hi Ursula,

Dear Bradley,
great that you liked the stonework. They attracted me a lot. Honestly I don't think that a lot of people make photographs there. It's a scary place - the more strange the better for me. =)
cheers, thilo

Dear Hassan,

the depth of focus of my digital camera is really strong even with the smallest aperture. That's sometimes good but also sometimes VERY bad.

You stayed at Nuremberg? Would love to see you pictures ;-) Cheers, Thilo

I am struck mostly by the subtle colors in the stonework. You did a fantastic job getting those! The arches and gradual rotunda shape lend such natural form to this shot...it must be a very popular photo-op. Great job, Thilo!
