Hi Allen, I used to have all kinds of problems with compression, but I think I've got it under conrol now. It was hard for me to get my head around reducing the image size for display on Usefilm. I usually do my reducing in Photoshop to about 350k , 800x800 pixels. Then I make any changes or adjustments to the image. That seems to work pretty well for viewing on a monitor. I had a lot of trouble getting decent reproductions of slides. Andre

Thanks Andre. Yes, it's a magnifiscent area to visit and photograph. You are probaly right about the compression. The original slide, which is in color is much better. Regards, Allen

Hi Allen, I just have to get out to this area one day :) It must have been a great feeling getting your camera set up to shoot those "Ansel Adams" images. As Jose pointed out, this one does suffer from the compression process. I suspect it is simply the quality of the scanned slide that is limiting this one. Have you tried different settings on the scanner to get a different size image? Andre

Hi Allen, nice image, close to a clone of Ansel Adams' great one (did you know he donated the originals to Universities so that students could practice with them? Imagine proofing the original image...) Unfortunately the reduction you did is not up to the original. Tones are too compressed, it is not sharp. Anyway, a great moment you captured. Congratulations!
