About
Returning from an outlet (what could be more Americana...) I was captured by the distant skyline between two train "poles", as if they were there to open me the city. Taken from inside the car, at 28mm. I like the light falloff at the corners, the saturated colors. And also how most lines of the picture drive the eyes to the city. Even the tyre marks on the pavement point that way. The Pentax 280P is a great point and shoot.
I've the same feelings about this image. I find his work a great source of inspiration. Maybe someday I buy one of those Lobo or similar "artsy" cameras and venture more on his style.
Hey Jose, even with the best lens in the world you couldn't seperate the skyline from the rest of the picture with this angle. That's the challenging thing on wide angle lenses. You usually deal with a huge DOF and your 3D picture gets 2-dimensional. Keep the images rolling...Carlheinz
Glad you liked it Carlheinz. That dark edges are light falloff really. As for DOF, well, this is a very good point-and-shoot, but it doesn't have manual mode. And since I was waiting for the traffic light to open, I didn't had all that time to experiment with exposure control. But I agree with you. Defocus would've done it better. My new old camera (mint F2A) is under maintenance. Can't wait to began playing around with it, a Nikkor 24/2.8 and high saturation film. We'll see ;-) Jose Azevedo
Well, "my kind of picture". Very nice composition. The power lines, the tracks, some "industry" in the foreground and skyline in the back. Nice colors, the dark edges are due to the lens, I guess. Doesn't bother me. Lots of space in the foreground looks great here, IMHO. Would be great to have a smaller DOF in that image to separate the skyline from the rest, but some things we will never get :-( Nice piece of America, buddy!!! Cheers! Carlheinz
