About A favorite spot in the Smoky Mtns. I stood on my tipy toes and I'm 6' 6" tall and shot down with my XPAN to get this unique view of the rocks at this location. The green reflecting in the water makes this for me.

John, I don't have to think much about being challenged...my friends oft times tell me just how challenged I am! The picture has been attached to my profile. Consider it done. I guess now I need one that shows how tall I am?

6 foot 6 tall?

Geepers John... you got an Xpan... you got that looking over the crowd thing going on... you gotta take a self-portrait for us for your portfolio... consider yourself challenged.

Now about this piece of wonderful. As soon as I pick my jaw up off the ground, I'll be adding it to my favourites. Completely spectacular!

Mary Sue, I always use a tripod. After posting the dark comment I realized I'd not calibrated my monitor in a few months and when I finished it looked just fine... You were right!

Thanks Derek. Polorizers and 30mm xpans are a challenge. I suspect with this scene it could have worked. In scenes with sky it looks terrible due to the super wide angle. Next time I'll try your good idea.

Hey John! I definately feel that, this camera is well suited for this sort of shot...Composure is excellent as is the lighting. Good shutter speed for the water - I'm curious tho, as wether or not a circular polarizor would have been benificial in removeing the reflections off of the rocks in the foreground and perhapse the waters surface as well?

It doesn't look dark to me at all. If you lighten it too much you might risk some loss of detail in the lighter areas.

I thought more about this shot. Since you mentioned standing on tip toes, I wondered if you used a tripod? If so, I really want to commend the sharpness you achieved hand holding this at such a slow shutter speed.

It really is a cool shot.

Thank you Mary Sue. As I look at this post again this morning I think it is a bit dark... I was in a hurry in with the scan. Looks like I need to work on that... sorry.

Way cool. You did a great job framing this...even standing so precariously on your tippy toes. The perspective almost looks fish eye...almost. The sharpness pulls the viewer's eye straight through the image.

I can see why this is one of your favorite spots. One day I MUST see the Smokey Mountains.

Seriously, this is way cool.
