Hi Lori, really nice. I keep looking to see when you employ the "out of the frame" technique, but no luck yet :-) I like this photo here, the combination of colours is great. I can agree though with the critic about the background being a little disturbing, for me it either has to be there or not. This is somewhere in between. I dont agree with Chris though in that everything has to be pin point sharp. If that was so then so many flower photos would look all the same! I like the variation and the selective DOF, nice work and nice frame. All the best, your friend in Switzerland, Neil

Hi Lori,
Beautiful flower, wonderful colours, but can I mention just a couple of things that might make the shot even better?
The main one is to remove the remaining, deep green parts of the background, that tend to distract the eye a little. These could either be cloned or painted out quite easily.
Secondly, (too late for this), the back petals and the stem of the flower are not quite in focus, compared to the excellent sharpness of the front petals. When highlighting a single flower, particularly against a solid background, it's nice to have the whole flower in crisp focus.
A very pleasing image nonetheless.
