For such a yuky day, you did good with the little camera and outdated film.

Ouch.
One honest opinion begets another.
Serves me right, I guess, for being critical.

This photo has no great meaning what so ever. It looks like a snap photo in the rain. Not sharp and no detail in the shadow, just bad. Good luck with the future. Johan

Thanks, Daniel. For some reason I'd always assumed the XA-1 was just a newer version. You should post this B&W...the sharping works really well. You've got some fine work on your page, and if you comment more you'll have more people looking at it.

I like it. Thanks.
Here is another shot from the roll, that I converted to b&w and "sharpened".

This is the fixed-focus XA-1 with the f/4 lens, not the rangefinder XA with the five-element (six?) f/2.8. (I see that I have a typo in my earlier follow-up, referrring to the camera as an XA-2.)

What do you mean "not-great camera"? I've got the XA and love it .....in spite of it's limitations. You've got a good image here, and the color really gives it that tired old part of town look. Love how the yellow stayed true.
And...I just found two rolls of Gold 200, circa 1996! I know what I'll be doing the next rainy day.

The purplish look reminds me of photos from the 70's. I pulled it into PS and converted it to Grayscale. See what you think....

Thanks. I'm still a film-and-old-cameras addict. I was dismayed when I picked up these prints, and shot after shot was washed out, slightly purply and lacking contrast. Junky camera was my first thought. Then I remembered that the film was ancient.
One thing to be said in defence of the Olympus XA-2 is that it is very pocketable, and can be used for discreet "grab shots" such as this..

For a 'not great' camera and 'ancient' film, you have presented a well composed and atmospheric citiscape. But, then again, I am a sucker for rainy day shots!
If the cars had been a little older, I might have labeled this 'Downtown 1975' and let people revel in the nostalgic feelings this film/camera combination generates ;)
