I am not sure why this image was EC....yes it is nice and unusual, but I just don't find anything unique in the photographers approach, aside from the location. I usually SO NICE in my comments, but this was really glaring at me...I supposse I will have to check out this photogs portfolio to see if there is more to see....:(

Very nice composition and viewing angle. I love the contrast between the golden color tones of the building and the dark blue slightly clouded sky. Good work....Best regards Harry

This shot reached out and grabbed me, great use of tone and light. The temple has some interesting lines. This is a wonderful photo.

I couldn't miss this shot...:-) I live in Malaysia and this is the Royal Palace in Bangkok, where I have ben a few times, but there is worse news ! I have actually taken exactly the same picture. Same angle almost and 28mm fixed lens as well. :-) I will try to upload it to this site some day... So, of course, I feel I am ready to be critical, because my shot was almost the same, and no better and no worse than yours. What I find technically a bit weak here, but that may just be the jpeg, is 1) what's happening in the highlight, and 2) the fact that the sky contains too much yellow as far as I can tell. But now, let's go to the most important... what's missing in this frame ? Imo, a dynamic is missing, as well as an interpretation of reality. Pictures of the Wat Phra Keo, and specifically of these golen chedis, are everywhere, and they all look like yours or mine. Basically they look good, and that's that. I'm posting this because I believe photography is the art of adding a vision to a reality. We all fail to do so almost all the time when shooting things like this here - simple things which are already beautiful before we arrive. I am not sure I would do any better than this today at the royal palace, but I would surely try to do anything I can to find a new and better way to present this chedi. I was very pround of this shot that looked like yours a few years back, until I tried to sell it through a stock library. They showed me hundred shots like mine, like yours, and they told me that they didn't need "duplicates". :-) I thought that was an info (and a pain !) worth sharing with you. Best regards.

Thanks for your positive comments. Those members of Usefilm who know my proficiency with a computer and know how I can manage to mess things up doing the simplest of operations know that it was a lot easier for me to take this photo than to do anything to enhance it, at least on purpose. Having said that I notice that somewhere along the path of transferring the image from photo cd (I didn't even own a scanner at that point) and reducing the memory size to send to this site, the image became somewhat less smooth in the color transitions and a bit more surreal. Maybe that digitized "surrealness" is what Chia and Jake are referring to.

Awesome photo!!! The sharpness and lighting effect makes the photo almost like its computer generated like the movies.

Hey Bill, this is quite outstanding, very strong image! It's nice to see a photo and say...hey I've been there! Isn't Thailand beautiful all those sparkling roofs whenthe sunshines on them. I made a mistake on not writing the names down of each temple visited and when I developed them, it was one sparkiling temple after another. :)

Really powerful... I do not usually give much for buildings, cityscapes and buildings in general. This one however is something more... I think that it might be the rich but still muted colors...
