Created a square format. The illusion is a rectangular one. snowed in chicago after a long time. took my recently bought canon g2 for a trial. Let me know what you people think about contrast, feel, emotion etc.
monis, very nice! and very well executed. i love the contrasting textures and dof. very soft upfront without losing detail (must be a wide angle lens, no?) and sharp as a tack at the fence and beyond. the point you made in your comment to my image is displayed (not the word i'm looking for but you get the idea) very well here. in this case, the point of interest being the strong vertical pole with leading shadow, no? interesting crop to excellent effect. i would've liked to have seen a bit more fence. i know, i know, but breaking the rule of thirds and what-not can be avoided by shooting it vertical. that would've changed the look & feel though. i like it! very well done.
