would have been more effective if he was looking towards you and maybe smile from him. looks to serious of a man for me like it was a staged shot.

I like the image. Great location - I love mossy rocks and natural settings. I think that it would have more impact if you experimented with the cropping, perhaps cutting out some of the legs and the hand at the bottom of the screen. I also agree with the photo editing comment. They both look just a little pale.

Ken, I agree this is nice capture of a sweet moment. The kid's expression is adorable and Dad's look of "This won't be the last time he leans on me!" is pretty cool. About my only nit pick (and I'm not sure there's a whole lot that could be done at the time)is the skin tones are really very yellow, so that they both look a little sickly. I'm guessing (read that word with a lot of weight) that auto exposure was used and the camera was reading the dark brown and blue shirts. Is this a job for a photoeditting program?

Then again, it could be my monitor. :-)

Good job capturing this moment of human love and contentment.

Ken,

Thanks for the comment. I see what you mean about cutting through the hand. Didn't notice it before, because I was apying too much attention to their faces and wondering (always) about exposure.

The new rating system here will take some getting used to, I agree.

I don't know why this is rated relatively low, I think it tells a nice story, which is not easy to do in a candid photo. (I don't do numerical ratings myself.) The only flaw is slightly awkward cropping at the bottom, right through the hand.
