About This series is also a result from our photography workshop at Zollverein (http://www.zeche-zollverein.de) One of the assignments was to make a series of 5 characteristic elements in the area of this former coal mine. This is number three - one of the footbridges that connects the different plants. In the series I used the omnipresent vegetation as a connecting element. It is trying very hard to overgrow everything and to wipe out all traces of the past.... Originally this was a colour slide, but I changed it to B&W to match the mood of the other photographs in the series.

Mary, thanks for your comment - I think the softness is due to motion unsharpness.
It was already late afternoon so I could not use a very short shutter time.
Furthermore, there was a strong wind while I was on top of a shaky metal tower :)

Hermen, I prefer black and white and the tones are lovely - the scale is good too - this seems a bit soft...

Wonderful composition! Strong diagonal! I would have liked this even without the people, but they help give a sense of scale. I do like it better in B&W. Good work!

Mario, I also think it is sharper in B&W... somehow, the coloured version has been reduced in size by Usefilm, and it lost sharpness.

It's really much pretty in B&W...

The sharpness is better in black, or is it my imagination?

Good point of view.

This was the original colour slide.
