About I used the liquify filter in PS to get this effect. I loved the crispness of the original shot, but the background was distracting. Even with the aperture at 2.8, my background wasn't blurry.

This was a good way to make use of what it sounds like was an otherwise unsatisfying shot. The liquify filter gives this a nice artistic effect. The colors remind me of a Monet.

Just to let you know, PS 6 does have liquify... under IMAGE and at the bottom of the list is LIQUIFY. Cheers!

Thanks for your comment Paul. I wasn't sure how this would go over. I'm using a demo version of PS7 now. I downloaded it from their site. It's fully functional and free, but only lasts 30 days. I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade to it from PS Elements (which does have the liquify tool). Don't know if PS6 does or not either.

In PS7, it is in the FILTERS drop down menu. I don't know if it is available in PS6. There are several cool filter tools in there.
