Lacks symmetry, it neither one thing or the other. It would have been more appealing with an adjustment to your tripod and camera. My eyes are drawn up the stairs to the centre of the composition. I find the top of the lowest level of stairs could have been burnt in more, the eyes tend to by attracted to the lightest areas and the top corners would have benefited with more burning in, it would keep the viewer's gaze within the image rather than leading off.

Chqrlie, I get your point (regarding symmetry), and I have to agree... it works here too.

masahiko and bjorn, you asked for symmetry. i followed the rule for more tension in a picture by not building it symmetrically, like we don't want a single tree in a field see put in the very centre. it is dull and takes away the possibly enhancement of interest by splitting the room into uneven parts.
same here. directly centred the steps had becaome more of a plane whereas i found more perspective and depth in the picture by taking a step aside making the siderail a sort of pointer into the room. hope this helps.
to all, thank you very much again for all your positive comments.
best regards

The transparency and the stairs fading away make this a very nice picture with a message it seems. However, as Masahiko, I regret it lacks symmetry. You say it was on purpous. What was the idea behind it?

Great angle and capture Charlie. Well done, Cherie p.s. love the colourful tones combined with the transparency

up or out is always a question of point of view (and lucky)
I like teh no-simmetry, but Iwould have liket o see it a bit more from the bottom (if you could be more down...)

Astounding! I would like to know where the stairs lead but, on second thought, I can wait to find out.

the gradation and the softness of the composition make for a wonderful contrast with the subject. Giving it a slight angle makes it even more interesting and emphasize again all the different contrasts: colors going from dark to light and everything in between, glass, steel, geometric patterns against that soft color palette. I quite like it.
