I am resubmitting this picture. I had it re scanned to bring out the green leaves. There is still some white dust specs on it. A comment on my previous submission said the bud should be off center. I think it shows better being centered but, what do I know. Any comment?
Thank you for your comments Rachelle. For this bloom I prefer the centering. I agree that most subjects should be off centre a I have learned. this particular photo was done up for a birthday card by a friend who saw it. I tactually looked great with a raised mat on the front of the card.
I don't know, call me odd, but I sort of like losing the detail in the background. (?) A very pretty flower, wish someone would give one to me, hehe :) I liked the other comment about off-centering it, but let me say that macro is not my bag, so take my comments with a grain of salt.
Just a quick add on comment... they do make spot neutral density filters... I've seen them up for bid on ebay before. Mainly used to remove vingetting, it would work here too!
Les, I agree that it would look better with less greenery around it... so instead of putting it off centre, maybe a sqaure crop to highlight the flower instead?
It appears you have the same struggles that I do of trying to keep the detail in the dark spaces while not blowing out the light spaces. I am wondering if they make a neutral density spot filter for this? I have not seen any but I will keep looking. Hey keep it up! I haven given up yet and I have been struggling at this since 1967. Later my friend,
