taras, beautiful! wonderful detail and tonality. i shot this same eclipse and managed to get a similar tone just before totality. unfortunately, the longest glass i had handy was a 300mm. the D100 adds a factor of 1.5x which put me at 450mm. needless to say, mine looks like thumbnail of yours ;^) great work!

Heather,
A good first try would be to get a T-adapter for the scope and a t-ring for your camera. With these two accessories, tou can mount the telescope to the camera as a long lens. This is how I got some of my early moon shots. I've used my ETX90 spotting scope (equivalent to your StarMax 90) this way.
Another option is to get a piggyback mount for your telescope and use your camera with its own lens, and just use the telescope to guide the camera. This is a bit more difficult.

Awesome photo! The color is amazing.
In regards to your question, I used the StarMax 90 EQ Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope. It is my first telescope, and I was just experimenting by holding my camera up to the eyepiece. I didn't think it would actually work! I'd like to get a little more serious with it, though, and increase magnification, use some lunar and solar filters, etc. I'd also like to mount a 35mm on the scope and take some shots. Any suggestions would be welcome!

I used an 8 inch (diameter) Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, which consists of a lens and two mirrors, though any telescope or telephoto lens with a focal length over 500mm (but not too much higher than 2000mm for 135 format film) and a steady tripod should be able to get decent results. As a backup, I had a 350mm lens on my Hassy, and the results were pretty good.
