turned out really good IMHO. It shows one aspect of the nature of children and the way they are very good.
Warming up time is probably the most important one. I would always try to get time in advance but I know this is often not possible.

Although a good photographer will always try to obtain a spontaneous response when photographing a child. it is possible to make a virtue out of shyness as you have done here.Hiding behind the bench as she does here, our attention is drawn to her very expressive eyes. Good, well-balanced composition, and black and white is very effective here. Best wishes. David.
