I don't know about this one, seems to a lack of separation between the animal and the grass. At first look, you have to search for the animal. The use of a green filter would have lightened the grass and left the animal darker, may have worked better. Often we have to use filters in B&W to get the separation that we would get in color automatically because of the color difference. I've had this happen to me numerous time, a scene looks really good, but when developing and printing, I find that much of the scene merges together tone wise. Just some random thoughts. ray w.
