Clever composition/construction! Nicely executed! My choice is "E".

This is how I made it: of course, the bottom left image was most heavily manipulated. I took the green pepper and changed the 'hue' until the pepper became purple. I also tried to manipulate the other peppers but the green one gave the best result - an odd, but not completely impossible colour. (My PS skills are still rather limited, changing the hue was the only way I knew to change the colours without making the overall image looking too artificial). To make the similiarity in shape between the purple and the green pepper (a little bit) less obvious, I flipped the green one horizontally. As Stefan suggested, it would have been better to have another shot of a green pepper, but my IQ wasn't high enough to figure that out in advance :) To get a better colour balance in the combined image, I transferred the blue background of the purple pepper to the red pepper as well. The image of the yellow pepper is the only one that has not been manipulated.
To all the people who submitted a solution: I count all anwers as correct :)
The idea to create this image was induced by a (now deleted) thread in the Usefilm suggestions forum - about the question why heavily manipulated images with highly saturated colours were attracting so many viewers. So I decided to do an experiment: shoot some colourful peppers, with the intention to do some heavy manipulation afterwards, and submit the result to Usefilm... The idea for the actual manipulation to create an 'IQ test' only came after I got the prints. I consider the experiment succesful: never got so many views before :) As a pleasant side effect of this break in style, some 'new' names appeared in my comments list... Nice to meet you :)

You're right Stefan. Flipping it was not sufficient to confuse you :)

It may not be a hugely interesting subject but uninteresting subject bur this compostion doesn't lack originality. I don't know if there is a theory behind your selection of subject colour/background colour but I think I would have switched the place of the two at the bottom. Yellow contrasts much better on a blue background. In this way it would suit better the composition. Very interesting picture with excellent colours Regards

I think you should have chosen a different shot of the green one to make the purple pepper. Purple peppers would fit nicely in with the pickled peppers of nursery rhyme fame however. Beautiful, beautiful saturated colors :-)

I like how your mind works! Actually, assuming that the only manipulation has been tonal, there are at least two questions one can ask - which is the odd one out, and which two are essentially the same, i.e. which two are related by tonal manipulation! Too bad there's no 8 or 10 on the originality scale!

Hermen,
I am not sure what you are going for but this made me smile...now I am familiar with red, yellow, and green bell peppers - not sure about purple but with genetic engineering and advanced hybridization - it wouldn't surprise me...
Now on the theory that this is a spatial relationships question - the green one is odd man out because it is facing the opposite direction (and if this is the theory - then I imagine that all four of these are the same shot - just manipulated). Although to be honest - the ones that look the same are the two on the left and the two on the right (although - the two on the right aren't identical - the stem may have been manipulated on the bottom one).
