The second version doesn't do that much for me (also looks like it picked up some aliasing in the scan).
The original shot isn't composed according to the "rules" but I guess that is what made me notice it in the first place. Maybe the dead space on the right needs something, who knows. This lack of harmony means that it's not a typical "passive" floral shot and doesn't really set the viewer at ease. I don't know how sharp the original is, but it would probably look good as a small print on the front of one of those quirky handmade greeting cards.

Nice image here, I love the short DOF and the overall color. My only quip is I wish the tip of the flower was a little sharper.

Great focus point here! I like the colors and comp too. At first, this one seemed a bit dark but the more I look at it, the luminence works quite well. Can't help but think of the Stones "Dead Roses" here for some reason. Very nice work here Ms. M.
