About ...Now for something a little milder(than the last one). This is Trisha, she picked the dress, she did her own hair(it WAS a bit windy)so don't blame me-I'm just the photographer.Shot just before sunset.Summer's almost gone(as Jim Morrison said)and so am I (to my second home,Paris-and beyond,to shoot more shots)so to my 2 or 3 fans out there please don't cry,I'll be back sooner or later. If my Lap Top stops acting strange I'll even leave some comments here and there. This is far from my fav.picture but don't be too hard on it/her.I can assure you she looks great in tight jeans and an even tighter T-shirt(especially if there's a cold wind blowing). See you on the Dark Side of the Moon. All the best, Mark

I also had beers in the Amelie, (is that how its spelt)took some pics, on my folio i think,................ok, is this long enough?? can i go now??? Dearest Lisa, First, I can't put up any new shots right now. my work and equipment (scanner, etc - i still shoot film) are in L.A. and i'm In Paris (at the apt.)Second,my computer here is all F-ed up and It's locked in "safe mode" I can hardly type this and I can't fix it (yet, maybe never)I'm sure this news makes you happy and you're laughing like a little, evil gal pal(laughing at my misfortune).Third,I wasn't trying to be mean.your normal "Photoart" is almost always fantastic.why do you wanna muck about in an area that's not your forte?stick to what you do best-you're great at it.Now I must take this piece of S**t laptop and throw it off the Eiffel tower(i'm nearby).I could kill this thing.Happy holidays, Your friend (though you may not know it) Mark

Dammit, my brother, just found your comments somewhere where we were almost gonna have a duel.

And then we weren't.

Having a duel is some kinda kick-ass dusty street western movie concept, bring the cameras, but since that's off, guess we're just clinking drinks again qand watching the jello wrestlers.

Did I mention that you rock? Gotta be some way to post some images from Paris, you know you wanna.

Dear Rhonda, well,well-that "Batcave" must have much better equipment than I thought. You did do one slip - up (Need You Tonight is on "KICK" not "ELEGANTLY WASTED") but the trap I set up didn't work. Those "Honky Tonk Women" lines are no where to be found in the studio version and only included sometimes in the past (1970's) when they did it live.My mistake is I think (don't have it with me) the CD "Love You Live" recorded live in Paris and Toronto in 76/77 has that verse included - so that's were I screwed up.The last song ,Thirteen, well on that one I have the Garbage version (which is super hard to get cause it's the "B-side"(non CD track) of some older deletated CD single-the words are slightly different.Since I only have CD'S with me that I recorded for traveling I don't have a lot of info written on them. What shall it be A- or B+ ? let me think....Next up, in a few days-My dissertation on the US quickly becoming a police state and fascism moving in.In the mean time look up "CAPP II - new private information collecting policy given to the aviation/airline INDUSTRY to "catch/weed out terrorists" - hahahahahaha, Ya right! and Patriot Act 2 - very scarry stuff. 9/11 is a perfect excuse to gather "non of their business"/ personal info on US citizens as an excuse for going after terrorists. Also It'd be good to watch "Bulworth","Enemy of the State","1984", and "Dr Strangelove" (oh, and "JFK" AND "Born on The 4th of July")before I get into the Whole Thing.Teaser: If you think Iraq is about helping the Iraqi people I'm gonna have to give you an F,minus....More later. :~) P.S.If you saw Bill Marr on Larry King last night (I get it here at 3a.m. and 10a.m.repeat)I'm right there with about 95% of what he said. Are you in the South or the North? Lets not get bent if we disagree - we're cyber friends....

Okay, Mark: Third and FINAL round! (Even if I don't make A+ - grades aren't everything you know! And I think my reputation is fairly safe now.) It's been fun but we all know a good search engine (like Lisa said) will get you most anywhere you want to go (even when you change a few of the words in the lyrics) and some places you don't want to go. Besides, Christmas is looming closer and closer and I have miles to go before I sleep, miles to go before I sleep (Frost). All the best, looking forward to seeing more of your travel photographs, keep me posted on the White House :) Happy Holidays, Rhonda

Oh hey, you nailed "Shattered" completely. Somehow some of that gets old for me (wore out several albums, Christ knows how many CDs lent out that never came back) but I never tire of that song, convinced tho' I am that that Richards stole the lick from JJ Cale.

Here's my vision of us, my brother, we'll sit in big beach chairs and watch the denizens fight over picture of the day while we sip great big drinks. I must confess, my strategy of doing images of static, electrical tape, and screaming probably wasn't the best approach to achieving POTD glory, so I'll regroup while we watch the, hmm, maybe a Catfight. We should send them jello. or mud. I'll shut up now.

Diamond Dogs. Definately Diamond Dogs.

Try this:

"They've ploughed, they've sown, they've harrowed him in
Threw clods upon his head..."

Cheers!

Mark,

I like the golden color here and the overall pose, what I would watch is the dirt on your scanner. I think the sharpness could be bumped up a bit. I think the building in the background is a little distracting but that?s just one opinion.

I read your comments on Cherie?s picture and the remarks referencing myself so I will respond to them. First off thanks for taking the time to write that, more of that type of commenting needs to be done here. I never expected her to return to that place and re-shoot it but that she might think about what was said the next time she is in that type of shot. Also when I write a comment I am writing it to the site as a whole and not to just that person. More then one person sees an image here. You are right that a lot of decent photographers commented above me on that image indicating that they liked it, that is great and a good thing but the problem with this site and others like it is it turns into a feel good site. Look at the current comment, 95% of them are ?Good Shot? ?excellent? types (I myself have posted those too). What is serious lacking here is good solid critiquing; now I may have offended her with my ?uninteresting? comment and I am sorry about that but I have received that myself and I do not take them to heart as others shouldn?t either.

One thing this site is not is a portfolio site but some are using it for that. None of the work I have posted here is what I consider good. Post it so that it can be critiqued so that maybe it can be made better or someone will see something in it that I don?t. Since my business and income is from photography I don?t post the stuff I sell but what I do post is stuff I am playing with. I checkout out your portfolio and you have some solid work here.

Thanks for the good commenting and have a happy holiday season.

...but look at me!..I'm in tatters!...I've been shattered/friends are so alarming and my love is never charming/life's just a cocktail party on the street/they got people dressed in plastic bags/directing traffic - some kind of fashion...laughter,joy,and loneliness/ and sex and sex and sex and sex/but look at me!..I'm in tatters!...I've been shattered! Good one G C but I gotta tell you, the "Some Girls" album is the one Stones album that I'm very close to total burn out on. We had a band at the time(never came up with an official name - never got past CONSTANT jamming and rehersals - so I'll just call it "Mess"(the problem with "Mess" was too many "side distractions" going on - Girlfriens, pregnant girlfriends, unhappy wives,Coke(a,cola of course-1 or 2 band members found that more interesting - some people are always REALLY thirsty - than the music.I was NOT one of the thirsty ones, straight up)I just walked away after a while...it was a fricken "Mess") but we must have played 1/2 of "Some Girls" so many times it was just burned into my brain. You're a musician, rigt? That album is so simple to play on Guitar-not one song is more than 4 chords-that it was so easy to go into "Miss You"(8 minute + 12" version only-no edited down versions)"Whip","Respectable","Beast","Shattered","Imagination","Some Girls"(they FINALLY did that live on the short '99? US tour-No Security (best set list in years and nothing came out of the shows, except bad quality bootlegs).Anyway, good choice.Check back, I'm ready to throw part 3 at Rhonda.I'm not posting shots cause I'm in Paris and all my work + the scanner and G4 are in L.A. so until I get back...there's just gonna be a little bit of photo "magic" lacking on USEFILM - hahahahaha. No seriously,I like my work but it's a bit conservative (or straight forward) considering the work I'm attracted to on USEFILM.I'll probably try some dif. stuff when I get back.Check back here to catch Rhonda getting tripped up (sooner or later...sooner).i KNOW she's got a "Batcave" full of computer's,CD juke boxes, books that she slides down to do research...(the elavator's broke/so she slides down a rope (ahhhh, what song is that?)Good work on the Morrison stuff. Take care,Mark

Damn, it rocks in here, gotta check in here more often....or you gotta post more images, which would be even better!

Let's see if this is even vaguely challenging....

Hey Mark... I flatlined long before 3 a.m. (psst yes bottles talk but I'll deny it if you tell anyone I said that). I completely understand about the White House comment. That would be in rather poor taste considering THE NEWS! I can wait! The last lyric you gave me was from U2/Song: Desire (but if Sheryl Crowe sang it too I didn't check...much too early!) The 'early' Dylan line on the last shirt image was from Restless Farewell. Enjoy your coffee! Cheers! Rhonda

Over the counter with a shotgun

Desire, desire...

From Jimbo to the Talking Heads? With GC you never know where we might end up. I just follow. Can't handle Christmas shopping either! You really need to forgive David Byrne, it's been over 10 years now. Gotta move on. Have you seen his new book? (E.E.E.I)? I haven't but sounds interesting. I'm eagerly awaiting the White House answer! Cheers!

Dear Mark: You can't count off for Mississippi then because you forgot to ask! :) I had a feeling there might be another movie because I read that Me and the Devil Blues was used in many films. But I decided I'd forfeit the bonus this time so I could eat and sleep a little, before the next round! ~Rhonda

Rhonda Prince   {K:17687} 12/13/2003
Dear Mark: Okay, it didn't take me as long as I thought, even though you tried to trip me up. Good ones, I hope I get all the bonus points you promised, that's what kept me going... :)

#1 - For Your Life/Led Zepplin
Heard a cry for mercy, In the city of the damned
Oh oh babe, damned. Down in the pits you go no lower
The next stop's underground. Oh, hello underground.
Wine and roses ain't quite over, fate deals a losing hand
And I said: didn't mean to... did not mean to fail
You didn't plan it, you over-ran it

#2 - Glycerine/Bush/Sixteen Stone/1994
I'm never alone
I'm alone all the time
Are you at one
Or do you lie
We live in a wheel
Where everyone steals
But when we rise it's like strawberry fields

#3 - Mississippi/Bob Dylan
Walking through the leaves, falling from the trees
Feeling like a stranger nobody sees
So many things that we never will undo
I know you're sorry, I'm sorry too

#4 - Sweet Child O Mine/Guns n? Roses AND Sheryl Crowe
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

#5 - Me and the Devil Blues/Robert Johnson/Movie: Pump Up the Volume/Performed by Cowboy Junkies
Also recorded by Widespread Panic
Early this morning
When you knocked upon my door
Early this morning
When you knocked upon my door
I said, Hello, Satan
I believe it's time, to go

Mark: Eastern Standard Time - I think I can safely give that personal info out. Memory or machine? Maybe a little of both? ANYthing can be beat? Nah, though you have thrown a few curve balls this time I will succeed! Just give me a little more time! :)

Mark Julian Mark Julian   {K:36866} 12/13/2003
O.K. Rhonda, Lisa might be pulling back the wizard's curtain a bit but memory or machine -anything can be beat.Let's spin that wheel again - #1 "Heard a cry for mercy/in the city of the damned". #2"We live in a wheel/where everyone steals/but when we rise/it's like Strawberry Fields". #3 "Walking through the leaves/that are falling from the trees/feel like a stranger/that nobody sees." #4 "She's got eyes/of the blues skies/and if they thought of rain/I'd hate to look into those eyes/and see an ounce of pain."(name both singers/groups that made this song big). #5 "I said "hello Satan"/I do believe that it's time to go" Name the original singer (bonus points-name the super duper mega star/singer who played/sang this in a film with just an acoustic guitar.Name the movie)Let's see how this one goes....

thats cool rhonda, i just put the first lines or whatever into google and *tadaaaa* its never failed me yet to find what lyrics are from..........i dont have the memory to record them, my mind is far to busy too allow stuff to stay there too long. my friends add can recall any song from teh 60's and 70's and what position they got to in the charts from his head....................i often wonder what having a memory is like.?

Dear Mark: Of course I'll play...I have to protect my reputation as the "Human Jukebox." GC is really the music man...I'm definitely the 'word person.' So here goes:

Rocks Off/M. Jagger
The sunshine bores the daylights out of me.
Chasing shadows moonlight mystery

Shine A Light/M. Jagger performed by the Walkabouts
Thought i heard a sigh for you,
May the good Lord shine a light on you,
Come on up, come on up, now, come on up now.
make every song [you sing] your favorite tune.

A Change/Sheryl Crowe
A change would do you good
A change would do you good
Hello, it's me, I'm not at home
If you'd like to reach me, leave me alone

Where Are You Tonight/Dylan
There's a lion in the road, there's a demon escaped,
There's a million dreams gone, there's a landscape being raped,
As her beauty fades and I watch her undrape,
I won't, but then again, maybe I might.
Oh, if I could just find you tonight.

Mark Julian Mark Julian   {K:36866} 12/12/2003
Rhonda, are you there? If so here we go #1 "The sunshine bores the daylights out of me".#2 "Angels beating/all their wings in time/with a smile on their faces/and a tear right in their eye".#3 "There's a baby in the arms/of a woman in a rage/and a long time golden hair stripper on stage/as she winds back the clock/and turns back the page/of a book that nobody can write/oh, where are you tonight. and #4 "Hello it's me/i'm not at home/if you'd like to REACH me/leave me alone. We'll do more if you're into it.(hope you are) Mark

Dear G C, You know, I have to agree with you.My taste in photography/art/etc. is much more "out there" than the way I shoot(which is pretty straight forward-especially this one, which is far from my fav).Your comment is very good "food for thought"-I've gotta shift gears a bit. Thanks,a very constructive and well taken comment.I need to reinvent myself a bit-now you got the gears in my head turning (I do have some interesting ideas-i just gotta shoot them)

CHRISTINA Aguilera opened the MTV Europe music awards with a raunchy stripping routine.

The singer came on stage in Edinburgh wearing a nun's habit and surrounded by a choir. She then ripped off the habit to reveal a barely-there top and leather chaps and broke into the opening bars of her hit song Dirrty.

It was the first of many costume changes for Aguilera, who was hosting the awards at Leith's Ocean Terminal.

She was followed on stage by Beyoncé, who wore a silver dress as she performed new single Baby Boy with Sean Paul. The first award of the night went to Justin Timberlake, who won Best Album for Justified.

The Panjabi MC took home the award for Best Dance award. Beyoncé won best R&B Act, beating rivals including Jennifer Lopez. The White Stripes were voted Best Rock Act by MTV viewers.

Eminem won Best Hip-Hop Artist for the fifth year running and Sean Paul was named Best New Act.

This is a nice one, I like the unusual angle -a girl bent back, looking at the sun.. It gives her such a relaxed look... REgards

I for one don't think this woman sucks ... I like the colors and the composition; just wish the scan was a bit bigger/sharper and that there wasn't a hotel behind her head. I don't know much about fashion/portrait work which is why I very seldom will comment ... but I'm a sucker for brunettes with long hair.
