About
This is at an event in L.A. a few years after "Blue Velvet" (by Artist / Director David Lynch. One of America's top film maker - "Wild at Heart", "Lost Highway", "Elephant Man", "Twin Peaks", etc) was released. Dennis played the infamous and "out there" - to put it very mildly - Frank Booth which was just acting at it's BEST (of course the Academy didn't have the guts to nominate him for his role in "Blue Velvet" so he recieved a nomination for a fluff film that followed Blue Velvet called Hoosiers or something (saw it once - VERY forgetable). There's tons of celebrities in this town that I can give a rat's ass about but there are a few true artists. Dennis is a true artist. Some of my favorite work of his include the wacked out photographer in "Apocalypse Now", "Blue Velvet", "River's Edge", "True Romance", "Fishing with John" and "Basquiat" (about the late, great painter Jean-Michel Basquiat who died much too young) He also does his own painting and is so into It he'll zoom off to Europe or Japan just for an opening. The man is open and funny and a pleasure to talk to. On top of that anybody that walks around naked in Taos, New Mexico in the middle of the night , high on God knows what (and how much), thinking the elecrical wires are talking to him can't be all bad. We need more of his kind around - makes the planet interesting. (oh, he was also behind (and in) "Easy Rider" but that's another story... shot with a small pocket camera (forget what it reads elsewhere) - not the best quality. No PS used.
...one of the best, Dennis Hopper, he is...I take the time out every day to go up at lunch to a private hideaway in our office to watch what I can of a movie - sometimes it takes me 3 days or so to get thru one but it is my drug and I take it every day..I went thru a Hopper fix a few weeks back and now I am on to Jack - without the football helmet in his "new" pictures...Oh yes ... I love Hopper...great catch..K
one of my all time fave actors!..loved Blue Velvet and especially Lost Highway,True Romance and have many memories associated with Easy Rider ;> ...must have been so cool to meet a man of such talent and conviction...he is a hoot to listen to!..piercing baby blues,too!...regards,gayle
Lynch is the man. His movies are always a multimedia photo show for me. I could snap hundreds of excellent pictures out of every of his movies. Dennis Hopper is one of the living top notch actors. I believe he could play almost everything. He looks really like the nice guy on your image. Take care! CB
Mi Amiga, it was a tiny, crappy little pocket camera (one that I can slip into my coat pocket) Can't pull off my "Avedon Magic" with one of those...... (it's about "the Man", not the "Machine" AKA as filler)
I loved "Elephant Man." One of my favourite movies /ever/. "I am not an animal! I am a human being!" I watched it in a Health class in eighth grade. Sadly, none of my other classmates wanted to watch it, so they decided to talk over it. *sigh* That man has blue, blue eyes. Ashley
