very nice portrait with a lovely mood. The girl is a real beauty. The focus is a little off, though (or is it blur form long exposure) and there is no definition in the eyes. Maybe its because of the scan. I think its definitely worth trying to get a better scan.

Your title is apt. What a remarkable portrait; I love her wide glance upwards, her open smile. I love to photograph children as well; there's something so remarkably free about their expressions and attitude, and it's a challenge to capture that in image. You've managed it here so well.

I like all your photographs with the children. This one, like the others give the impression of mutual trust between you and the subject. I also like the soft focus effect, however you achieved it. This is certainly the instance where you don't really need the image to be tack sharp.

I love the youthful innocence of this photo portrayed by this girl. Yet at the same time, there is the feeling of wisdom beyond her years.
Black and white creates great atmosphere and is overall very beautiful. Perhaps try to lighten that top left corner as it seems to detract a little from the overall feel of the photo.
