The Arctic Tern probably sees a larger proportion of daylight during it's life time than any other animal on earth. It migrates yearly from the antarctic to the arctic, spending summers in the arctic (or sub-arctic) and winters in the south.
The Arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea) is a small bird that makes the longest migration of any bird. It breeds in the Arctic tundra (within the Arctic Circle), but flies to the edge of the Antarctic ice pack during the winter. It flies over 21,750 miles (35,000 km) each year - roughly the circumference of the Earth. This excellent flier spends most of its life flying. Wonderful photo, congratulations, Steve!!!
I hate mentioning gear in my comments but I've gotta say you handle that 600mm very precisely on a tricky subject, i'm impressed anyway. Very graphic shot, and the first tern ive seen, heh.
