I just returned from a trip to the U.S. Black Hills and Rocky Mountains. This is a picture of the sculptures model of Chief Crazy Horse, with that actual sculpture in the backgorond. To date the sculptire has taken approximately 45 years and is 100% privately funded. Crazy Horse was a Chief of the Souix/Lakota Indian tribes, and this sculptuer is to be a monmument to all American Indians. When completed, this mountain carving will be about 560 feet high.
I especially like the juxtapositioning of the two sculptures. In every respect, this is a well composed image. The grain in the sky is visible, but not necessarily a distraction. Good work.

Hi Jim, I can't see anything 'wrong' with your shot. Composition is excellent (imho) for the subject. I knocked off a couple points for 'lighting', although really there is nothing wrong with the lighting-there appears to be some noticicable noise in the sky, I don't know could be my monitor. But I know from experience that the sky IS THAT BLUE in the Black Hills....
The emotional appeal for me is 'excellent'! I visited the Crazy Horse Monument in 1973 when I was 10 years old. Back then you could barely make out the form that was being carved out. My father used to shoot all slide film back then, but if I can I'll try to dig up one of his shots from this site. It would make a great comparison.
Thanks for sharing this, I still have feelings of great awe when I consider the undertaking involved in this. Korczak Ziolkowski, I believe is the man who started it in the 1940's I think. His family I believe is still involved...
