Continuation of macro experiments. I used the camera's super macro feature and a +4 Diopter. The fly is about 1/4 inch long and as you can see there is very little DOF. the available light was insufficient to allow a smaller appature and still hand hold the camera. I would appreciate any comments on how tiny macros are achieved.
jim.. i see you are struggling with a +4 diopter. I did play with +1, +2, +4 diopters, at one point i had +7 magnification. With that came the price of working on such a narrow DOF, that you get paper thin focus by moving your camera within a few millimeters back/forth. I returned those Hoya filters. I must say i am quite happy with my Nikon Coolpix 4500 macro capabilities. If you see the attached, and posted here on usefilm, i was about less than an inch from it, and shot it using macro mode. no attached lens. I would eventually get a reverse nikkor f1.4 lens, and macro flash ring.. ... my advice to you Jim.. get the Nikon Coolpix, they are great for macros..
