About The ice was original black -- salt ice photographed on the same day as "The Black Ship." The sunflower was originally yellow and green. Both were put through basically the same PS contortions as in my previous blue-abstract posts -- desaturation, colorization, selective diffusion and substantial layer masking. This image suffered the additional indignity of something called Tormential Rotator. First time I've used this filter. The results were about as cheezy as PS filters get -- until I got the idea of applying it to just a couple parts of the image. Then things got interesting -- or just insanely confusing -- depending on your point of view. Comments appreciated.

Jim,

I like this one a lot. I have no constructive comments except that I too thought a little yellow would be nice but the more I look at this the more I think the yellow would simply fight with the blue and I don't think that would work well here...

Jim, you have hit on my favourite colour, it looks aqua to me and it has impact, the idea is very good and carried out extremely well, now where is that filter???? - Richard.

Cool image! Yes Jim that poor sunflower is exhibiting signs of termen(ti)al frostbrite!
An interesting filter..these are found in PS7? Must get.

Tormential Rotator....sounds like some kind of torture device...no wonder the image suffered!
;)
Glad to see you managed to make it happy again....love the icy BLUE.
and a VERY original way to show us a SUN flower

Hi Audrey. Hope we can keep meeting like this, although at first, I didn't recognize you with the L. :-)

Some yellow would be realistic. Actually, that's how I originally envisioned this image -- but was not very satisfied with the results. For the moment, I'm rather enjoying the challenge of using blue monotones in ways that support the message of an image. Or maybe BLUE is the message?

Hi Jim,
As you know, I know ZIP about photoshop - but always fascinated by your creative use of it.
This poor ole flower looks cold alright.
Looking at it, I wonder if in real life, should we be able to see a bit of yellow peek through or have I missed the point altogether?!
