This was taken near the 'Octopus Tree' on Mt. Wellington, Tasmania. Being so small, it was easy to miss these tiny fungi. I didn't have a tripod with me, so thought I'd try and see how it came out! It's ok, but next time tripod's coming with me.
Alice.. this is a wonderful macro shot.. considering you held steady for 1/2 second.. I love the saturated greenery here. beautiful.. rich colors.. greetings.. from los angeles.. area..
I like it, interesting subject, the only thing that distracts my eye is the reflected leaf in the top left. Tasmania has some interesting fungi to shoot.
I live the use of DOF and the exposure and color are good (could be a bit more contrasty I guess). But.. there is nothing for my eye to lock onto, no point of interest as the moss and fungi spread across most ofthe photo. I think a similar DOF composition with one brown fungi prominent and the others blurred would have worked better.
i think it's perfect as is, if the focus was on the back of the fungus then the front would be too blurry, if it was on the very front then it would be the same, where it is is perfect congrats! evan
