This shot has numerous fine elements - The mass of the tree, the fence, the neutral line of tress between the shadows of the tree and the fence.

But that lawn - unbelievable!!

Great job - Bob T.

Great IR photo here..Love the shadows and the fence. I think the composition is strong..only thing I don't care for would have to be the top left of the photo with the ghost tree comming into the image. Doesn't hurt much though.

Beautiful composition. I like the way used the tree to fill the top portion of the image. Good work!

Great timing on this one. How long have you looked at this and waited for the right day for the shot. That tree was perfect to block the intense light and cast a soothing shadow. It makes for a very inviting scene, even in B&W. Fine work.

Bev, I see a holga convert lurking in this photo. You really should give it a try since the camera is a whopping $16.99, and 120 roll film can be had for $2.99 or so. Check it out at http://www.freestylephoto.biz/e_main.php. There are lots of holga sites on the web, just do a search. And funny you should ask about color, I just ordered some color film from bhphoto and it should arrive any day, can't wait to see how it performs. You get 12, 6x6 shots from a roll of 120 so the roll shoots fast. If you can't develop/print your own film, some photo processing places (even the quick ones) will develop b/w though prints can be pricey at around 50 cents a print. You can just get the negs and scan them if you have a scanner that will do transparencies. Give it a try, it's much different than digital, I find it very liberating. The trick to b/w holga is the same as any b/w photo -- look for shots with a wide range of tones. Deep shadows with bursts of things lit by the sun are best. Come on and join the plastic camera club!

Oh, and I love this shot, the shape of the tree is great for the composition, nice range of tones, a little bit of mystery to it, love the softness created by the fog.

Very nice composition and I like the use of black and white for this picture. The fence coming in at angles and meeting in the center is most interesting. Great work. Don.

Stunning shot, I can just feel the moment, in fact I really could do with being there rightnow!

Nice feeling projected by the photo. I agree with both you and Kim regarding the upper right folage, but I still admire your work!

Thanks Kim, I didnt notice that stray branch until you pointed it out. I'll have to do something about it. Sometimes we get too close to our images and don't "see" them, does that make sense?? Anyway, thanks again for your thoughtful and insightful comment :-)

What a serene, peaceful setting you've captured here. The long shadow of the tree really adds to the sense of comfort. My only nit is the branches in the upper left... since they aren't connected to the original tree they seem very seperated and go against everything that this image has going for it. Otherwise, this is wonderful. Makes me want to find a place to settle into with this scenery!
