Hmmm...clicked on the picture I attached, and it keeps coming up with "Usefilm.com image" across it...hope it doesn't do that to everyone, 'cause it sort of ruins the picture. Anyway...just thought I'd comment on that. :)
Very striking image with lots of beautiful atmosphere and mood. I was concerned with the sloping horizon and the loss of the rest of his shadow/reflection, so I took this into Photoshop and tried my hand at it. Used a grid to get the horizon perfectly level, then used one of my nifty plugins to add more water to the bottom to extend the shadow...had to do a little touch-up work to get it to look just right, but, as long as you're not changing the actual event to be something it wasn't, I find no harm in doing things to enhance a photograph that didn't quite manage to be perfect when it was taken. :) Of course, I won't even begin to claim the new version's perfect...just how I saw this picture in my head. I also cropped out a bit of the sky...decided to leave only half the circle of light coming into the photograph, just to offer an obvious source of light while trying to balance the composition. I hope you like it. :)
good points. must be going blind, never noticed the squint horizon! unfortunately the end of the shadow is not on the original. tho have managed to alter it in photoshop, and it does look better.....cheers.
I like the simplicity of this shot, though I might have preferred to see more foreground and a bit less sky, like the whole of his shadow in the shallows if possible.
