I thought it was ironic that these leaves were so dry and dead when there was a supply of water just inches away, with grass coming out the sides. It's like the leaves were in a desert, and if they'd only been able to crawl a couple inches more, they would have made it to the oasis and survived.
The reason I called this photo "oasis" is that the green cap in the background says, "water" on it, and there's all this grass growing out of the cracks even though this is in the middle of a concrete sidewalk. The dryness of it and the dead leaves reminded me of a desert, and I thought it was ironic that water was so close by.
