About Here's the full sized version of the image I showed last night. I cropped out the wave on the right hand side of the image.
It looks at first like a blurry tree, but it's really a huge wave splashing up from below the cliff.
I figured it would make no sense to most people because the wave lacked any real definition.

Just for a reference, this couple is standing about 75 feet above sea level. There are some fantastic wave bursts here once in a while............. and no, I didn't notice the seagull until I got the film back......... That was 110% pure luck.

Thanks again Shirley. Even tho digital is cheaper by far, I can't use my two best lenses on a Canon digital camera.
Two lenses and a 1.4 converter cost me around $2500 15 years ago. Take a look at my three Hale-Bopp images on page three of my portfolio and you will immediately see the difference between a top end and a standard lens. The wide angle and the 300MM "L" series lenses showed the blue ionized gas trail of the comet.............. the other was taken with a standard glass Canon zoom lens. Those photos taught me a lot about lens quality. For as little photography as I am doing now, it's not cost very cost efficient to take the plunge.
......... OK OK, I may be a young old geezer, but some day I must make the change to digital. Thanks so much for your advice.

I also loved film, but it was getting quite expensive to buy and process. MAYBE you qualify as a 'geezer'...haha.

My Mom bought me a Nikon D80 for my birthday a few years ago, and now I am totally committed to digital...SO much easier and cheaper, and just as good quality as film now, if you have a good camera. Now the higher end digital cameras are cheaper than this one was, and more megapixels.

By the way, I was looking for something else in my portfolio and came across the Splash at Arch Rock http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1201078

Unfortunately, I don't have any people in it to give scale, but the waves were splashing higher than those trees at times, which was very high. I sold quite a few prints of this in a gallery at Depoe Bay for awhile...The Dancing Coyote.:)

Yes, it does, but life goes on.
It's also that I have so many $$$ invested in my F-1 and few expensive Canon lenses plus a couple other Canon camera's that at this point in time, can't come close to starting a digital outfit.
.......and to be honest, I like film and the way it behaves. ........ OK, so now do I qualify as an old geezer? :)

Guess like so many other people you're out of work. That does make life difficult. I mostly used Fujichrome, and loved it.:)

Yea, not the first time I've been called that when asked my age. ;) I think my feeling old is from lack of work and not being able to afford taking my weekend trips into the hills like I used to. That was my stress relief. I kinda feel like a fish in a bucket now ..............and then of course they took my Kodachrome away. For now, I'm just happy I had taken all those images when I did.

So...you're just a 'baby'...haha. Most of the time I don't feel old at all. In some ways, I feel younger than I did years ago. I guess it's all in the mind.:)

I've lived here my entire life and can't imagine living anywhere else. Coos Bay is a good "launching pad" to go to other places.
I'll be looking. If you find it first could you show me the link? I'm an old geezer still using dialup.
I had my camera set up and waiting in case a good wave appeared here................ I wonder if someone was behind ME, .........and he was taking a photo of a me taking a photo of a couple taking a photo. ;)

Very cool, Randy! I have a photo in my portfolio (I'd have too search it out...you know I have 42 pages...haha...) of a huge wave like this called 'Splash at Arch Rock', taken at Depoe Bay.

Coos Bay is one of my favorite cities on the coast since it is central to a lot of my favorite scenic areas. My late husband and I used to stay at the Thunderbird Inn there. I had one of the best steaks of my life at that restaurant.:)
