This was available light in a small concert room. I used a heavy vignette to accentuate the profile. This is my best model and grandson. He was loving the music. He was 1 meter from the stage and musicians. Many Hugs my friend, stan

Ray, I am a Scotish Leslie on my mothers side. I would need a miracle to ever be able to afford to travel. I have been struggling financially just to make my way for me and family. I dream but reality has it's way with me. Us Scots get a bad rep, but I can hold my own. Have some fun and send me some shots of your trip!!

A quick addendum Stan. Ian and I are both Scots BTW. We both love our natural country but I also love Southern Ireland (Eire, the real Ireland) with a very similar beauty to Scotland. Remember this my friend.....never say never, dream the dream then one day live the dream. Ian and I have both visited the USA several times and I love to think that I will be over there again one day. All the very best dear friend......Ray

Hi Ray, thanks for letting me be involved as well. Just feel a connection with you in your efforts to help Ian. Wish I could join you, Ireland has always been a dream of mine. Would love to see Ireland and Scotland. Only in books I am afraid. I know that Ian will appreciate the quality time that you will share with him. Thanks for your friendship and for just being real!!

Hi again Stan. Ian is doing as well as can be expected. There is always piles of paperwork to attend to regarding his care package. I am STILL trying to locate a suitable person to act as his PA. Lots of interviews with one or two possibles but I'm not taking an early decision.
I am taking Ian away on holiday in around a week or so. He has never been to Ireland and asked if we could go there. We do not know how long we will have Ian for now so his wish has been readily granted.
I will take my camera and hope to get a few shots whilst there providing it is in situations that Ian can cope with.
All the very best to you my dear friend. Thank you so much for taking such an interest in my brother.........Ray

Thanks Dan, this was a maiden voyage with a Silver FX plug in for CS2. I tried a rectangular vignette to cover a couple of distracting parts of photo. Some window light in right background and some white piano keys that did not work. Went a little dark, I am going to try sepia on this too. It is a great plug in and has some wonderful film like qualities to use. This was some Kodak Pan X 100 for the film conversion. Some exciting possibilities including IR!! I will do an IR conversion this week and dedicate to you.

Thanks Ron and welcome to UF. I gave the about to ground the image. Yes this could have been many aware moments. I agree about your thoughts on the crop. This was out of camera with the b/w conversion. A first effort with Silver FX. I appreciate your response to this.

The lighting is superb in this beautiful child portrait study my dear friend. An excellent mono study with just a hint of soft sepia. I love sepia in portraiture and have used it myself, it is less dramatic than pure monochrome and serves a purpose if you want softness rather than power. I love this shot Stan for the lovely expression caught on Kaden's face as he watches and listens with rapt attention. Well done to you. My very best wishes to you as always.......Ray

Great side profile portrait Stan, the expression you have captured here is priceless, I love the vignette it works really well. Maybe the face is a touch too dark? and I wonder if this would have looked better with more sepia tones? Very rewarding experiment and thanks for sharing
