Thanks Alison. That line and the black border beneath it is a frame I added in PS.. it's one of my idiosyncrasies.. I have a thing with frames :)

much better in a good monitor:; about compo I'd go for a panorama croping 1/3 of the sky keeping the two trees; the halo around the main tree looks like the sun but more like a postprocessing flaw so I burnt it
anyway very fine as always

The hints of green are lovely against the broody sky. The large tree looks like a painting against a photograph, it actually appears to have paint lines on the foliage, though I'm sure it's the rain. I can imagine the sound of the rain falling.

Yes, I considered that. Its also perfect use of rule of third. You might improve a bit om producing more structure in the grass in front and fade/make hazy at the horizon. There is a nice line of fog at the horizon. Listen to doc and then make uo your own mind with what all have said.
Its already a winner for me.

with one it would look a typcial composition, which I don't like.. having two breaks a rule of composition, that is, it uses an even number, but because of the size perspective, maybe it works.. let's see what jd says..
