Paul, did you buy your camera locally? Where are you located in relation to the Hot Lanta? I would check your meter against a regular light meter for the hell of it. I checked mine the first week to see where it was at. Every camera has it's own personality. Good luck with it. Have you been doing any darkroom construction yet? Be well, Stan

Well to be honest I could have set it lower but had not thought about it so It was just set there. Might have been a good mistake however there was pleanty of light but I did not have the tripod. However with the VR stab. I could have most likely set it lower. The one thing I have noticed about this camera is that my meter seems to be way off for some reason. I am getting way over expososed images with the meter set to the correct exposure. Im finding that it needs to be shot at nearly to stops under exposed to come out right and that is really bugging me......Im wondering if there might not be some kind of problem with the meter. Also it doesent seem to matter what meter mode I set it too. Might just have it looked at. Being out here however I dont know anyone I can have look at it. Will have to check out a couple of the bigger towns to see what they might have in regards to camera repair services.......Will keep you posted....Thanks for all your help Stan. Its much appreciated!
Paul

Hi Paul, glad that you are enjoying the learning curve. Did you shoot this at 200 because of using the longer lens? I have found that I shoot everything in the middle of my meter for my best consistency. The under exposed just seems to not process as well as the slightly overexposed shots. Canon and Nikon do have their differences. I thought that the D300 was supposed to be better at high ISO than you are experiencing. Dropping of hard after 400 is surprising. You will overcome I am sure. I am still reading my manual after 9 mos. with my little Rebel. Be well, Stan

Hi Stan.....Well not really on the noise issue. Still not what I like....This one I think was shot at 200 ISO.... I think a lot of the issue is coming from the fact that I like to shoot about a good stop under the correct exposure and the fact that I was setting the camera on the normal and high active D setting which I found out in the manual will give it more noise. So in that regard I have gotten better results. Im still not really satisfied with anything at 400 iso and above. I think when I start learning better techniques for post noise processing I could get even better results.........learn learn learn a! lol
Be well my friend!
