No, Saad. I meant that the image should really spoeak for itself with no helps and hints from the photographer. It is the imagebthat should say a thousand words, not the photographer. Even the wll informed people wouldn't understand what you intented to say with the image, simply because this image doesn't say much at all.

Make an experiment, Show the image some people and don't tell them anything about your intentions, and ask them what the image "wants to say". Nobody, even the well informed, will ever know what your intention was. It doesn't manage to transfer your intention to the spectator.

Cheers!

Nick

Hi Nick,I have understand you fully, according to your opinion, then all the documentation photos should have preliminary preface,or some an introduction to the events and what is really going on,yes I agree with you for those who haven't heard about the original event, and they even do not care what is going on,for those I do not car myself if they understand the photo or not,but for the well informed people, and those who are knowing what is going on this shot will tell enough, isn't you informed a lot about my miserable situation regarding power?
isnt my first contact with you when I put an input on your photo, which you asked is it dark,at some airport, and I said yes it is dark ,but for me it is more light than the noon sun,and when you replied you said I understand all you input is a personal feeling,
dear Nick, this shot for those who are aware of what is going on,people like you and those who understand the suffering by mere shot without words, exactly like the shots about what is going in Greece few weeks ago,
thank you for the detailed input,as always,
and it is always fine to me to hear from serious, indeed very serious friend,
Saad.

Now Saad, you also understand that all these things you wanted to tell us would be much better visible and tangible, understandable and causing some more thoughts, if the image would had presented them in some more adequate way? An image that deals with such serious things should be at least as serious as the things themselves. And serious would imply in this case that all those problems *have* to immediately move and cause some riot in the mind of the spectator. Does this image do that? Ask somebody without telling him/her what it is, and see how many "thousand words" the image says. It say nothing at all, until you initiate suggestive thing in the minds of the spectators by telling what it is. So, for itself it said nothing.

On a sidenote, we should stop using such forums for merely contacting our own life conditions to everybody else using any possible image. Why do we think that our problems are important enough to justify *any* image, not matter of its quality? Could it be that we extrapolate our own needs for understanding and moral support from all the others, and we then misuse this need in "photography" too?

Be sure, I know what is going on in your country after the "democracy" was injected with... military power. But also be sure that nobody can understand a bit of it at all by viewing such images like this one. It simply doesn't light up the spark, Saad. Documentation of such things is never done by sentimental work It is done by extremely serious, detached work. When you want to document and share.. you'd better forget that you are there yourself. hard, but nobody ever said that such photographic documentation is easy.

Your mind and your eyes are not mine, Saad. They may see many things, but if the image doesn't make them visible to me too, then the image was bad documentation. Don't demand from others to see with your eyes when the image doesn't do the work.

Cheers,

Nick

very fine action from you,and a great ,and very friendly way, just forgot to mention that this is my X-power station,I have arranged everything in a new way, outside, and hidden, with a lot of precautions, and the new batteries are with very minimum evaporative limits,
I liked the way of criticizing, and giving attention to the possible hazards, very kind of you,
thank you Harry,
this is the cost we have to pay,to stay connected,
my regards,
Saad.

Hi Nick,
when I have done this shot, there is no any intension in my mind to be anything special ,other than to show you,and my friends, the burden ,and effort we took in order to become connected to you,our life is not an easy one,we do miss a lot of things, and power is being vital to our modern life, not to mention how we get hot water, how we warm our houses, how our families do washing, and laundry, this what I meant from the photo, this is a photo of subject and concept, and yes I understand your point of how to make this shot a beautiful piece, but that does not occurs to my mind,I just want to show you a little of our suffering, and I do think that this shot is enough for that purpose, they said a photo worth a thousand words, and I think this shot worths few thousands words,
my best wishes,
Saad.

I am so pleased you made the first step in your first assignment, as presented to you by your boss. Besides a word of caution to make the invisible made visible. I am so pleased you and your family refrain from smoking. But if a visitor is given the privilege to be given permission to smoke pipe, cigar or cigarette, he may make the invisible visible. I am sure my other friend, who is chemical engineer, can inform you about the functioning of a battery and the involvement of Oxygen and Hydrogen gasses, the last being very explosive. At least have your camera ready for this unique moment.
Yours ..

It could be a very very good one, Saad, but again the composition took away all possibilities. Those cables, the battery, the computer, the connections, the wood of the furniture... It could have been so authentic, but the composition killed it.

Take a special point of view that enhances the many objects in their own seemingly "chaotic" disorder, use hyperfocusing with a wider angle, take one special thing very near the lens, from very low, or from some pronounced corner...

But as it is now it is not really making anything special.

Cheers!

Nick
