About Here's a small park at the entrance to Thompson, Manitoba, billed as the gateway to the north, 800+ km north of Winnipeg.
The plane is a Norseman with statues of wolves in front, which have become a symbol of the city of Thompson.
I'm back from a short trip there, and I'll be catching up in the next few days. Thanks for all the great comments while I was gone!
Dave.

in photography we need originality, unique things and surely a statue of wolfs and an airplane like that is original... nice subject my friend!

Good details especially on the engine of the machine, Dave, and a good perspective to catch it as if it was really flying over the wolves. The sky looks abit washed out - cloudy day? Still this somehow binds up very well with the whole story of the place where the machine was flying over.

Cheers!

Nick

Hoping you did have a good time my dear, did you see any interesting subjects for us here into your lense?:)
This looks quite amazing, like the wolves protect the plane, I love seeing the water at the background, is that a big lake? Hoping to see more of your trip, be well, Jenxx

Nice and sharp Dave!
Isn't it amazing, the vastness of Canada, I mean. Here you are 800km north of Winnepeg and it is still only considered the "gateway" to the north!

Interesting about and great shot, I love the wolves and the way they are painted. For quite a few summers our town had either animals, one year cows then zoo animals or cars which local artist would paint as they wanted and they were displayed around town for the summer months, too be actioned later. Hi Dave, been a while since I've been on here, but very pleased to see that you are continuing to get your money's worth out of your S5000.

What a shame that 'plane is stuck to the ground instead of being in the air. But interesting to know about.

My S5000 is pretty much in retirement now as my Pentax see most of the action and I have a pocket sized Panasonic DMZ TZ3 (still with 10x zoom) that fills the gap for when I don't want to cart the Pentax around.

Will continue to post the occasional pic here.
