About An oversize statue of a Red River cart on display in Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg. The carts were used by the Metis on the plains to haul cargo, and could be heard for miles around, as they didn't use grease on the axles because the prairie dust would have clogged it up.

Hi Dave, Nice shot and story relating the history of this area. The falling snow adds to the sense of hardship that folks must have endured back then.

Great to see and hear about this. And it looks so real. The warm colour of it in the snowflakes striking.

WOW... automatically assumed it was a horse pulling that cart from the thumbnail... nice suprise to see an ox there instead, certainly not a common site over here in UK :) Snow really adds nicely here & that statue looks so lifelike!

Great capture & very interesting about :)

Hi Dave,
Isn't it thoughtful how sometimes when an artist creates something like this statue they take into consideration the seasons and how the statue might look at certain times of year. The hardship of a Manitoba winter comes to mind with this image. I think you captured the sculptor's intentions with this shot.

Great shot and a nice story Dave. I always appreciate some background info with images. Great job of catching the falling snow. The statue stands out well against the beautiful big tree in the background. Good exposure with the snow. Well done.

Have a great day,
Joe
