Hi Keith, a good photographer could have pulled it off with a little more experience and better lens. I am just working on seeing what I can do with what I have. Would love to have one high end lens but I have a ways to go to justify that. I am pleased that I got the shots I did and had so much fun watching and listening to the great music. Gave me some good experience and was fun too! Be well, Stan

So you still got the best out of the situation, Stan, which I think is the very best teacher for adding more and more knowledge into mind as the time passes by. It's solving a problem with the *real* available means. I think anything else would be only wishful thinking.
It doesn't matter about metal shows, that was a joke because of my... errrrm, let's say somewhat too intensive preference for the more metalic sounds. Which doesn't mean that acoustical/country/blues and the like is not good for me. Actually it has been exactly this kind of music that evolved later on into rock'n'roll and from that point into hard rock, heavy metal, etc. All rockers around have to know that and to remember where their roots lie. It was guys like that where it all started. We owe them so much that it would be simply ridiculous to forget about this kind of music. Yesterday I way skyoping with my best friend in Greece and guess what music we were listening (again) to. It was a very old original country-blues recording from back in 1949 when the guys didn't even have multitracking. And of course they were not as virtuous and fast and anything, but the music has still it all, even after almost 60 years. They were pioneers.
What you say about "end of the world" and thus only a few possibilities for gigs, well that's a bad thing that the massive marketing made even worse, but what can you do? Nowadays profits are more important than the music, unfortunately. And I think that this will not change in the next decades. They have to live in their luxury, you see. ;-) There is a much stronger connection to music from bands that play for a couple of beers, I have the impression. BTW, what about the Spin Doctors? I found them so refreshing for sounding much like some kind of "country going boom"! Little Miss Can't Go Wrong is one of my best favorites ever. So, are they still there?
Cheers!
Nick

Thanks Nick, this was my first attempt to capture some live music and have more to go in the learning process. The telephoto lens I have is not fast. I shot this at 1600 iso so lost some resolution there. This was after sunset and was dependent on the available light from the stage. I was working on mood as much or more than technical prowess. I do not have much access to metal shows in Montana. Mostly acoustical, country and some wandering glimpses of the outside world. We are the end of the world for music because of the small population and venues. Thanks for the comments and glad that it is going well with you. Be well, Stan

The blues brothers are there to stay, I guess! And I must think of them when I see all that amazing amount of details on the old electro-acoustic guitar and the dedication on the face of that guy, even if there has been some small mixture of motion blur and overexposure here and there, the latter coming from the spotlights. But it is a warm kind of overexposure which matches the overall atmosphere. The texture/surface of his suite took the best possible look under that light!
Good one, Stan!
Nick
P.S.: Now, could you also visit some metal show? Jeff Waters surely plays, eeerrrm, a "different" style but perhaps also good for some shots! ;-)

Hi Harry, this was one talented guy. Great voice and very good stage presence. His band was on it and his dad, big Roger was the bass player. I will include a picture I got before the show started of him.
