Dear Avi!

What an excellent street capture, perfectly exposed and the tonal qualities are just right in my opinion. Humourous image and title to match! Love it! :)

I would like to comment on more of your fine photographs but my elbow has been broken for over a month now and it causes me pain even to type, let alone try to lift a camera... :( I will need surgery,as the cast is not working to heal the break.

My Best Regards,
Aniko :)

Hi Avi!

Thanks a lot for your reply and the info about the image and how you've took it. Indeed, such indecisions are good for tension and enthusiasm too. They make us try things out and also wonder about them, which supports a big part of the game. Sometimes even having shot several versions one can still not really decide which one is best. I see it as a very welcome and "refreshing" thing. Something like wondering what you hand in poker will bring in this round ;-)

Cheers!

Nick

Thanks Nick.. as for the details on the man's face, I used the dodge tool a bit..

About the bicycle wheel, well, there again I was in 2 minds (but NEVER about the blackboard, as you correctly said !!).. then left it.. these are the small indecisions.. hesitations that retain the tension even in the photographer !

cheers !

But I just *had* to look very carefully, Avi, since it is again real street photography, in its most direct version in B&W that perhaps may also make many to feel uncomfortable with its strict care for the important and neglection of anything superfluous, but without reducing the overall scene up to the some solitary actors that act without a scene. The latter might be also thought as the balance between the protagonist and his/her scene, without which no protagonist could evenr play some distinct role.

So your separation of the two characters from the rest of the scene is a quite remarkable one since you kept that delicate balance. I only don't know of that part of the bicycle wheel at the left is perhaps a small intruder. Strange but at the same time I see the partially taken blackboard at the right as an advantage - perhaps because it complies to the many vertical lines?

The exposure definitely turned the two pedestrians to favorites of light - I am especially amazed to see that the man in black still has enough separating contrast to the darker parts of his background.

And also, I have to mention that there is a third protagonist here. More silent perhaps, but very efficient to convey that "not really looking" which is in fact a very carefully camouflaged looking. The dog! Look how it seems to perceive that camouflaged looking and seems to be in a stand-by mode, turning to the man in black and stepping slower. Removing the dog would result in a completely different image, look, and feel.

As so often in street photography the devil hides in the details, I guess!

Very very careful eye for the street, Avi!

Nick

Perfect street shot Avi.. The greayscale is well managed as well as the position and capture in motion of the subjects.
Nicely done.

I thought hard about it, but then kept it, as to me, it added a part of the street flair..

Thanks, Ivona.
